LKT News is important!
Wednesday, November 26, 2008
I just finished reading a section in Kristopher Jones's book
Search Engine Optimization entitled "Make Your Blog Successful." In case you didn't know it,
this is a blog. With some web tricks I was able to make it look more like a news article feed site, but at its core, its just like any other blog. I was challenged by the amount a benefits writing a successful blog can have, through sharing educational and knowledgeable information, rewarding dedicated readers, and submitting it to social media web sites. Seeing as how Legendary Kingdom Tactics is a turn-based strategy game, I will be talking in the future more about what trends exist today in this genre of gaming. Questions such as "What happened to turn-based games?", "Where can I got to become part of a strategy gaming community?", and "Are there others who miss tactical games too?" will be the topics of discussion.
So don't expect all the news here to be exclusively about LKT, because our mission at Timeless Tactics to help raise up a community of strategy games who love turn-based gameplay!
LKT For Everyone
Sunday, November 16, 2008
The demo version is looking very promising, though we are still planning on adding a feedback option ingame, so players can very quickly provide us with more input to continue to increase the quality of the game. You will also be able to see what version you have by looking at the bottom of the main menu. Currently, we are focusing efforts on increasing traffic to the website so that you can easily find others to play the game with.
Also it has been reported that posting on the forums is not working currently, so we will work to resolve the problem asap.
Better Everything

That pretty much sums it up. The demo is looking more and more stable every day, now we just need you to play it! So come on, what are you waiting for? Hop on over to the downloads page and download the demo version of LKT. It is free! So you have no excuse now.
In addition to making the demo more stable, we have worked on gameplay mechanics, character balancing, incorporating all 6 characters, and an efficient way to quickly play the actual game through "Instant Play." In the next week we hope to create an official LKT icon and do some more promoting of the game. You will also notice more screen shots over at the gallery now too.
Demo Release Date
Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Has it been a month already? This entry is very overdue, and you all deserve an update on the progress of LKT. After attending a Game Developer Conference in Austin a couple weeks ago, our team came back having achieved a higher level of enlightenment in game development. We realized that the best way to develop games is to make them:
- Easy
- Fun
- Quick to learn
- Satisfying
Perhaps the most useful tip we picked up was designing a game that is easy to play. The upcoming demo will attempt to encapsulate all of these areas of importance. Here are the two modes that will be included in the demo:
- Tutorial - Step-by-step on how to play through a battle
- Instant Play - Choose a race (Goblins or Elves) and battle another player instantly
The tutorial should teach you in only a couple of minutes the ins and outs of battling players. It will outline the general objective of the game, and walk you through how to play it. The instant play will allow you to jump right into battling other players without the added complexities of managing your armies. This way, you will be able to quickly decide if you like the game or not (we are crossing our fingers that you will like it).
Perhaps the most important thought I wanted to share with you is the release date itself, which is set for October 9th, 2008.
It Speaks!
Sunday, August 24, 2008
Our first character, the Goblin Berserker came alive this last week with sound. We are hoping to get the Elf Archer (2nd character) sounds added this next week, and plug in the Goblin Grunt. Our goal is to have 4 completed characters in LKT by mid September.
In the meantime, we will continue debugging general errors and add more error detection where needed. If interested in testing out the actual battle mode, we will be posting on the forums soon the best times to login to encounter fellow LKT players.
Beta coming your way
Saturday, August 16, 2008
There are still a lot of kinks to work out, but at least you have something to work with now. Tonight we uploaded a starting version of LKT that you can start messing around with. Its a start, thats all we can say, and it allows us to continue debugging and testing with your help so we can make it a better, more refined game. There are no sound effects yet, and only 2 possible characters you can choose from for army creation. Please refer to the ingame manual for more info on how to play LKT. Over the next couple of weeks, we will focus our efforts on increasing online traffic towards our site, so you can find others in the lobby to chat with and play games with.
When you encounter bugs, please be patient with us. LKT is still far from being a finished product, but we are eager to let you see what the game is like. Please help to support this project by linking to our site, and telling your friends about it. Its free! So you can't go wrong.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post them on the forums. We want to hear your thoughts, impressions, and ideas. We will also be focusing on developing the error detection system of LKT, so you can rest assured that any errors you encounter will be sent to our server for further analysis and correction. We look forward to seeing you online!
Forums Online
Saturday, August 9, 2008
After several days of intense work, we are pleased to announce the availability of the forums. This is one of the best ways to get involved in the LKT community. Here you can discuss features, characters, gear, skills, and post any feedback and suggestions you have that will assist in the continuing development of LKT.
You can view LKT as an ongoing project, that will continuously evolve over time. That is one of our main goals, is to provide you with a game that is not always the same, while retaining its core gameplay and structure. Please be a part of influencing the creation of new content that you ultimately will get to wield in future battles.
Coming up soon: a playable beta version of LKT is preparing to emerge! More to come soon.
